Anatel seized nearly 10,000 pirated chargers

In a joint action between Anatel And auditors of the anti-smuggling and theft department (Direp) Federal Internal Revenue Service, 9,700 cell phone chargers were collected without permission. A batch of goods was stored on a conveyor located in canoe (LAUGHING OUT LOUD). The authorities carried out consultations on the system and physical checks to ensure that the devices were indeed not homologated.

Almost 10,000 pieces of equipment belonged to four different models of smartphones and after the completion of the operation were delivered to the warehouse at: IRS. Overall, Anatel was responsible for seizing approximately 2 million chargers using the Anti-Piracy Action Plan (RAS). Created in 2018was strengthened in 2020 through a partnership with IRS.

In total, Anatel recalled about 2 million cell phone chargers from the market.

Only with chargers since the start of operation in 2018 approx. BRL 33.9 million have been withdrawn from circulation. Including all pirated and/or substandard goods, more than 6.3 million units were confiscated, with an estimated value of more than 586 million reais.

After chargers, the most requested products are limited radiation, seized 1.6 million units, and in this segment the estimated value exceeds 109 million reais. In this category, the main representatives are routers, smart bulbs, Bluetooth devices, and so on.
