Man arrested for using ChatGPT in China

This could be the first time an arrest has been made for crimes committed with the help of artificial intelligence. The Chinese government seems to take ChatGPT very seriously. ChatGPT has already entered the professional and academic environment. No one has heard of a chatbot that has reached 100 million users in a very short time. However, ChatGPT is often used to automate malicious activities.

In China, a man was arrested for writing and spreading fake news using ChatGPT. It could be the first arrest for AI crimes!

Fake information generated using artificial intelligence

The suspect, surnamed Hong, was arrested for his social media posts about the train accident in which 9 people died in China. According to the Gansu State Police, Hong sought help from ChatGPT to spread false and inaccurate information about the train crash.

In a short time, the fake news reached thousands of social media users, and Hong was arrested and sent to prison. One of Hong’s crimes was using a VPN to use ChatGPT, which is illegal in China.

Experts believe that large-scale fake news and disinformation research that can affect the masses can become truly terrifying with the help of artificial intelligence. One of the most striking examples of this is that an image created by artificial intelligence in the past months is associated with the 2001 Cascadia earthquake and the images of the Pope in interesting clothes are considered real.
