A MediaTech announced this Tuesday (9) the launch of the chip Size 8050. While the name may indicate a new product, this chip is basically identical to the Dimensity 1300 already on the market.
A device with a 144Hz screen and Android 13 is now available in Europe.
The Dimensity 8050 processor is manufactured on TSMC’s 6nm process and comes with a built-in 5G modem. The eight-core chip contains four fast Cortex-A78 cores. One of them operates at a frequency of 3 GHz, the other three – at 2.6 GHz. In addition, the Dimensity 8050 has four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz.
Supporting up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 flash compatibility, the chipset features Arm Mali-G77 integrated graphics with nine graphics cores. The Dimensity 8050 is capable of supporting screen resolutions up to 2520×1080 pixels with a refresh rate of 168Hz and has 4K camera recording capability. The chipset’s built-in signal processor (ISP) supports image sensors up to 200 megapixels.
The first equipment that Dimensity 8050 will receive will be Tecno Camon 20 Prime 5G. This is a top-notch smartphone from Tecno, a brand owned by Transsion Holdings. It features a 120Hz large screen, 108MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5000mAh battery with 45W charging.
MediaTek is one of the world’s leading chipset manufacturers known for offering low-cost options that allow smartphone manufacturers to produce more affordable devices. With the release of the Dimensity 8050, the company is committed to continuing to provide high-quality, affordable options to its partners in the smartphone market.
As Tunk Sai Kumar pointed out, the Taiwanese manufacturer is aiming to standardize its entire line of chipsets with the new standard that started with the Dimensity 9000. To do this, the company is changing the name of all previously released models or those that were outside this standard.
In total, MediaTek is renaming six chipsets, two entry-level, two entry-level, and two intermediate. The most powerful relaunched models are the Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1300, which have been renamed the Dimensity 8020 and Dimensity 8050, respectively.
