The traffic police scares with new harsh penalties, AvtoVAZ pleases with new products, and the Chinese are still moving forward: the results of the week

Analysts summarize the results of sales in May: the market for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles doubled. Meanwhile, AVTOVAZ shared its plans for the coming years and the Chinese brought a few more interesting new products to the market. Among other important events in recent days, production of ABS is launched in Russia and ESP is localized. And they also expand the list of machine failures that carry a fine. Read more about everything in the video overview of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

As for sales in May, dealers handed over just over 50,000 new cars to buyers last month, according to the Association of European Companies. Compared to the result of May 2022, the market has doubled. Almost half of the total volume of cars sold fell on LADA products. The second line in the ranking was occupied by the Haval brand, the third – by Geely.

Speaking of Lada. AVTOVAZ dumped a whole mountain of various news this week. So we have learned that Largus will receive an “automatic” early next year, and a “Vesta” before the end of this. In 2025 there will be a completely new family on the market, nicknamed “Grant 2” in the media. And the classic Niva will be produced at least until 2027. There were also launches: “live” sales of Vesta NG and Granta Drive Active in the liftback body began.

The Chinese are not far behind. Two more new ‘heavenly’ brands have appeared in Russia: Forthing (a sub-brand of Dongfeng) and Jetour (a subsidiary of Chery). The first offered the T5 EVO crossover and the Yacht minivan for 3 and 5 million rubles, respectively. And the second is the X90 Plus crossover for almost 3.5 million. Meanwhile, Changan is preparing for the launch of the Uni-T model (we are waiting for it at the end of June), Chery is the big Tiggo 9 (it will be released in winter ). And the plant in Avtotor Kaliningrad has already mastered the assembly of the BAIC X55 – it should come out closer to the fall.

Since the topic of production has already been touched on, the Moscow company Itelma launches the assembly of ABS: series delivery of the domestic system to car manufacturers will begin on July 1. True, there are still no details about it, including what components it will consist of. It was also announced that the government is considering the possibility of localizing ESP. But here, again, without nuances and even approximate dates.

Finally, the news that the Russian authorities have amended the list of malfunctions in which driving is prohibited, in connection with which the list of offenses subject to fines has also increased. For example, from September 1, traffic police officers can penalize drivers for out-of-season tires, visual problems with the steering and braking systems (including the illuminated ABS indicator on the instrument panel), as well as DVRs that interfere with the display.

But the situation with medicines is even worse – the government supported the amendments to the code of administrative offenses developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And if they are finally accepted, any motorist with health problems will be under fire. After all, there is apparently no question of determining permitted doses of medicines, which will soon be banned, just like alcohol.

Well, in more detail about the main events in the car life of the country this week – in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal, which you can watch Here.
