A new Doppler radar being tested in the cities of São Paulo and Curitiba promises to stop smart drivers from miguet avoiding fines. New The system uses electromagnetic waves and can determine if the driver has slowed down before passing through the radar.at a distance of up to 50 meters.

The new verification technology is in an experimental stage but should be rolled out to more cities in Brazil soon. Unlike conventional equipment that measures speed with sensors on the pavement, Doppler radar will be able to determine if the driver was speeding and slowing down just to avoid getting a ticket.. Now it remains to be seen whether Chat GPT can create perfect protection against Doppler radar.

doppler radar

This technology uses the famous Doppler effect to estimate the driver’s actual speed before slowing down to cross the radar. For those who don’t remember: The Doppler effect is the change in the frequency of the sound emitted by the source and how it is perceived by the observer in relative motion. In the case of a radar, instead of a sound wave, it will be able to interpret the change in the speed of the vehicle (radiation source) at a distance of up to 50 meters before the vehicle passes through the radar.

Since they are in the testing phase, experimental radars still do not issue fines. In São Paulo, 13 aircraft were installed on six highways: Washington Luis (SP-310), Luis de Queiroz (SP-304), Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros (SP-225) and Cesar Augusto Sgavioli (SP-261). According to the city hall of Curitiba, the radars installed in the city have shown good results in checking speed.

According to Jéric Dal Gobbo, coordinator of the Electronic Devices Monitoring Department of the Municipal Secretary of Social Security and Traffic of Curitiba, there is a trend towards spreading radars to the rest of the country after their effectiveness has been proven. “We have seen in public announcements all over Brazil that Doppler is a trend in municipalities. In addition, this type of equipment requires less maintenance work, making inspection more efficient.“. Apparently, from now on, braking over the radar will not help. Now drivers will need to be careful and observe the established speed limit on the entire route where there are Doppler radars.
