Even more expensive: The Central Bank plans to raise OSAGO’s rates significantly

Rates and payments for mandatory third-party liability insurance have long become the talk of the town, and the policy itself is not a protector on the road, but another burden on drivers. Changes in the structure have been asking for a long time and apparently the hour has come. But these are not the changes that millions of car owners have been waiting for.

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation recently launched a new initiative: it would be necessary to raise OSAGO rates. But it is still too early to run after Valocordin – higher rates will only be introduced for “vehicles from unfriendly countries”, and only for vehicles owned by legal entities. Note: The Central Bank proposes to levy more, not from companies whose cars are produced abroad, but from companies whose vehicles are registered in “unfriendly countries”.

Submit initiative? No, it’s far from reasonable. The fact is that such proposals are designed not so much to increase revenue for the budget and other funds, but to test the response of society. Simply put, act as a marker: how will we react, will we revolt?

So, after the adoption of the above and a few similar proposals, if social outcry does not follow, most likely we will get an unpleasant OSAGO reform, which, of course, will affect every car owner in Russia.
