An amendment passed by the State Duma on second reading prohibits citizens who do not have at least one year of driving experience in a category “B” passenger car from obtaining a “bus” category “D”. Holders of foreign driving licenses must exchange their VUs for Russian ones after a year of residence in our country – an exception is made to this rule only for Belarusians.

To redeem driving licenses of categories “M”, “A”, “B”, “A1” and “B1”, it is enough to pass only “theory” to the traffic police. To confirm the others, you must first pass an exam at a driving school, and then pass a full-fledged exam (both “theory” and “driving”) at the traffic police.

In addition, a citizen who has been arrested for driving without “justice” will be deprived of the opportunity to receive him immediately after serving his sentence. For such characters, a kind of moratorium on obtaining a VU will begin to work. They cannot return the statement earlier than one year after the end of the administrative arrest or community service.

It is assumed that the final third reading of the amendments will be passed by the State Duma before the end of June. Its entry into force is scheduled for April 1, 2024.
