When the new Volga and the all-wheel drive Sobol NN are “registered” with GAZ

The infamous Western restrictions hit all of Russia hard, including our long-suffering auto industry. Where one of the most affected is the Gorky Automobile Plant, one of the first to encounter hostile manifestations. Moreover, the collision was so strong that, as it once seemed, the Volzhans would not be able to survive in it. However, the airbags proved stronger in Nizhny Novgorod than in Takata, Japan. What the AvtoVzglyad portal was personally convinced of.

In principle, the figures speak best about the well-being of the car giant: more than 300 cars roll off the company’s assembly line every day. There are also exact figures: 129 vans and 144 GAZelles on board, 39 GAZons, six ambulances and two police officers are called every shift. In total, the truck assembly produces more than 300 trucks per day, according to the most conservative estimates.

And this is not only about the good old and still incredibly popular Gazelle Business, which, by the way, is already preparing to take its place in the factory museum. GAZ is actively working on the newfangled NN line.

And by the way, in the fall, the all-wheel drive Sobol NN, which the market has been eagerly awaiting, will roll out. And let’s not forget its new family of G-Series engines, which successfully replaced the sanctioned Cummins. But not far away and … the new “Volga”!

At least, in our opinion, this is what Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov was talking about recently when he said in an interview with RIA Novosti that it was time to revive the legendary Soviet car brands:

“The first sign is Moskvich next to LADA, followed by Volga, hopefully next year,” the official was pleased with his revelations.

Well, where else, tell me, can the new Volga be assembled, if not in Nizhny Novgorod? True, so far we have not found traces of a passenger car at the plant. But it cannot be ruled out that the development of a potential novelty on the market is still underway here. And to “hide” them in the gigantic territory of GAZ is not a problem.

However, you can learn more about what lives, how and what the company produces today, what plans it has for the future, you can read the next issue of the Avtovzglyad portal podcast Here.
