According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, LDPR deputies and a group of senators advocated innovations. They explained their initiative as follows: today if a person needs a policy for only a few days (for example, to drive a car), it is cheaper not to buy it at all and, if anything, pay a fine of 800 rubles for driving without a “car citizen”.
Under current regulations, an OSAGO contract is for a minimum of one year, but you can also pay for a shorter period of use of the policy – six months or almost any number of months in a year. The main current problem, however, is that the cost of such a “partial” policy is highly disproportionate to full-fledged annual insurance. That is, in six months, insurers take 75% of the full price, and three months will cost hardly less than 50%.
We hope the document will make life easier for those in need of a short-term “car citizenship” policy. For example, taxi drivers who do not work every day, owners of vehicles with foreign license plates. You need a “one-day” OSAGO in case of a vehicle transfer to the place of new registration. But if the tariffs, as before, prove inadequate for the conditions, the price of such a law is worthless.
