Fraudsters improve criminal schemes, increasing the number of fake accidents. Simulating an accident is one of the most effective ways to warm your hands at the expense of insurers. And if you don’t take action, the situation could spiral out of control.
Law enforcement officials are sounding the alarm: criminal cases about insurance fraud are now being launched everywhere. In Nizhniy Novgorod, an organized criminal group of more than 50 people is under investigation into imitation of accidents in order to pay. The attackers bought expensive cars, insured them and then staged fictitious accidents. For several years, the amount of damages exceeded 12 million rubles.
A similar story developed in North Ossetia-Alania, where a criminal case was opened in July against three residents of Vladikavkaz, who faked 33 accidents and received more than 7 million rubles in compensation from insurers. Members of the group face prison sentences of up to 10 years and hefty fines.
Criminals today not only rob insurers, but also mutilate people. For example, an accident planned by a fraudster in Novosibirsk resulted in serious injury to one of the passengers. Because of this, the provocateur not only lost his insurance fee, but also attracted the attention of the police.
Representatives of the All-Russian Union of Insurers recommend avoiding organized groups engaged in insurance crimes and reporting their activities to law enforcement agencies. Because they undermine the entire insurance market and are not “harmless” at all.
