Vladivostok customs officials assessed the magnitude of the drop in Japanese car deliveries to Russia. They are almost three times as low – in fact, it is surprising that imports have not completely stopped!

“Customs registered cars of persons in Vladivostok for personal use: for July 11 – August 8 – almost 30,000 units, for August 9 – September 6 – less than 12,000 units,” the agency’s press service disseminated such data. the export is related to the introduction by Japan of a ban on the supply of cars with a displacement of more than 1.9 liters to our country, as well as all “hybrid” and electric vehicles. We recall that this sanction is in force since August 9, 2023.

Before the entry into force of the restriction, there was an increase in the supply of right-hand drive vehicles to Russia. Individuals and businessmen tried to stock up on cheap used cars before the ban came into effect. Data from Vladivostok customs officials confirm that August 9 was a turning point in terms of the magnitude of this phenomenon. In the week of August 2 through August 8, 7,200 cars were imported from Japan for personal use. And the following week, that is, from August 9 to 15, this figure fell sharply to 4,100 cars.
