Parallel imports made it possible to finalize many issues that were in limbo after February 2022. The exodus of some brands, which was associated with the cessation of the supply of new cars and spare parts, as well as the refusal of warranty obligations, led to the bypassing of necessary things imported. Of course, no one respected copyrights and royalties. However, foreign companies, having balanced their balance sheets and realizing the true extent of their losses, apparently decided to restore the previously broken ties.

In this regard, the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that changes can be made to the structure of parallel imports from October 1. Specifically, a ban on the “gray import” of cars of brands that have not stopped supplying Russia, if not cars, then at least spare parts. And now trademarks that have maintained any relationship with the Russian market will now have the right to block alternative imports, which are significantly more interesting in price than the official ones.

This seems to have been done solely in the interests of Chinese brands, which sell their cars in Russia at a higher price than private owners. Or perhaps this is a signal for Japanese, Korean, European and American manufacturers. But we will learn about this when a new list of goods that are allowed to be imported into the Russian Federation under parallel imports is published.
