There was virtually no doubt that AVTOVAZ, which solved the automatic transmission problem, would “collaborate” with the Chinese. The only intrigue remained with who exactly. Initially it was assumed that JAC would deliver boxes to residents of Tolyatti. Now it has become known that the choice of the domestic auto giant fell on the company WanLiYang (WLY).
Previously, LADA cars were equipped with Jatco CVTs, but a special military operation and subsequent anti-Russian sanctions forced AVTOVAZ to look for new suppliers. In July, insider information revealed that residents of Tolyatti had chosen the well-known JAC company as a partner: they planned to install their boxes and establish joint production of engines in the future.
Indeed, the Volga residents tested the power units of this company, but in the end they chose another option – a continuously variable transmission from WLY. According to the telegram channel “Autopotok”, their WanLiYang CVT18 is already being tested on experienced LADA Vesta, and very soon the factory will release the first batch of cars with a Chinese variator. But it is still too early to talk about exact dates and especially prices for two-pedal machines.
Let us remind you that the same LADA Vesta, which recently underwent restyling, today is equipped only with a five-speed manual transmission. But there are still two modifications to choose from: with 1.6-liter gasoline engines of 90 (VAZ-11182) and 106 (VAZ-21129) hp. Of. Five configurations are available. For the cheapest, dealers ask from 1,239,900 rubles, while for the more expensive from 1,584,900.
