Payments under the mandatory motorcycle liability insurance for drivers from the regions may change as a result of taking into account the local specific pricing provisions, which the Bank of Russia has proposed to introduce in the formation of data on the cost of car parts. However, according to experts, this will only lead to a further separation of the price lists in the telephone book from reality.
As Kommersant reports, the regulator will strengthen regional specificities when calculating insurance compensation for mandatory motorcycle liability insurance. Officials propose to include information on prices in the list of auto parts, on the basis of which insurers calculate payments, taking into account market analyzes in regions other than Moscow and the Moscow Region. Today, the cost of part of the capital is taken into account throughout the country, adjusted by the regional coefficient.
According to RSA President Evgeny Ufimtsev, changing the methodology will make the cost of spare parts in reference books “more fair” – especially in the Far East, where prices are 10-16% higher than in the capital. Experts remind us that price lists in reference books do not keep pace with inflation and noticeably lag behind those on the real market.
In addition, the average price is calculated by insurers, taking into account non-original spare parts. If a part is too expensive, the insurance company calls it unavailable and constitutes a compensation at the price of the cheapest Chinese counterparts, so the Central Bank’s changes will not correct the situation, says Vice President of the National Automobile Union Anton Shaparin Certainly.
