The same eggs, only in profile: why gasoline in Russia will not become cheaper

Prices at fuel exchanges and gas stations are breaking historical records. Carriers are driving up prices, forcing retailers to rewrite price tags in stores every day. Farmers are afraid of ruining the harvest season. Well, regular drivers greatly reduce the number of trips. Is Russia really facing a collapse in fuel prices? The problem was investigated by the AutoVzglyad portal.

A liter of AI-95 for 57 “wood”, and diesel for almost 67 ₽/l at a gas station is already a reality. Moreover, even at many gas stations in the capital, heavy fuel periodically disappears. Moreover, there is no end in sight to the shortage and the rise in fuel prices, despite a drastic government measure such as the ban on the export of petroleum products that came into effect at the end of September.

However, so far not totally: both gasoline and diesel will cross the borders of our home country for some time in almost the same volumes under previously concluded contracts. This also prevents retail prices in the country from falling. The problem, however, is that even if the export tap is completely closed, the situation is unlikely to change.

The reason is banal: the fat cats of the oil industry categorically do not agree to lose their super profits, and from the sale of fuel in the country they receive in any case several times less money than from trade with foreign partners. . And whatever you say, the oil “torgsin” is incredibly profitable for the state, and simply necessary.

In other words, the government moratorium on exports will not last long and everything will return to normal, only in the form of a new round of price increases. At the same time, the company has already begun to create a nightmare for the authorities, declaring that for technical reasons it has been forced to stop production of the same diesel fuel.

However, you can learn more about the problem and possible ways to solve it in the next episode of the AutoVzglyad portal podcast, which you can find Here.
