France and Croatia have followed the recommendations of the European Commission regarding the implementation of Article 3i of Council Regulation 833/2014. In particular, they note that the import of passenger cars from Russia to these countries is prohibited.

According to Izvestia, the authorities of France and Croatia have actually joined the entry ban on cars from Russia. This follows from the German government’s response to the Bundestag member of the Alternative for Germany party, Eugene Schmidt. In mid-August, he sent a request to the German authorities, demanding clarification of their position regarding the seizure of cars with Russian license plates.

By the way, Germany became the first EU country to start confiscating cars from Russian citizens, citing Art. 3i of EU Regulation No. 833/2014, which provides for a ban on the import of a number of goods into European countries, including cars.

— The federal government has asked other member states which interpretation is accepted in other EU countries. For example, France, Croatia and Poland have confirmed that Article 3i of Council Regulation 833/2014 has the same interpretation as here, according to the German government.

Let’s not forget that on September 17, Poland banned the entry of Russian cars.
