
FSUE NAMI, subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is negotiating cooperation with Iranian car manufacturers. To accelerate certification, NAMI could even open a branch of the institute in the Islamic Republic.
According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, a meeting took place in Tehran between representatives of Russia and Iran on cooperation in the production of cars and spare parts. On the Iranian side, employees of Iran Khodro Industrial Group and SAIPA Automotive Group, who had previously indicated that they wanted to enter our car market, were attended. From the Russian side, representatives of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “NAMI”, which are responsible for vehicle certification, came to the negotiations.
Iranian journalists write that during the meeting they discussed the creation of a NAMI department to conduct certification tests of local cars, which could significantly save the Iranian side time and financial resources to launch sales in Russia.
Both companies – Iran Khodro and SAIPA – expressed their wish last year to sell cars in our country, but this has not led to anything globally so far.
