The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will soon start supplying cars to Ghana. The first test batch of the Pickup model is expected to be shipped to customers before the end of this year.
As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, the decision to supply UAZs was made based on the results of a recent visit to the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant by the official delegation of the West African group of companies Jospong. During the visit to the enterprise, partners from Ghana had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the production process and conducted a series of negotiations on cooperation.
The result of the meeting was the conclusion of a framework contract for the supply of pick-up vehicles. And later the parties will return to the issue of organizing an assembly plant in Ghana – this topic is currently under development.
By the way, not only UAZ is looking at Africa – the production of LADA cars should soon open in Ethiopia. AVTOVAZ has already signed a contract with one of the local companies, but it is still unknown which models will be produced there.
