According to the analysis firm Autostat, most of the secondary market is still occupied by Japanese, Korean, European and American brands that were popular in the past, as well as LADA. The study’s authors are confident that the high demand for used cars will continue, if only because of the lack of once-known and beloved models in the primary market.
Among brands, LADA is still the leader, whose sales increased by 8.4% to 115,300 cars. In the foreign car segment, Toyota ranks first (59,100), Kia ranks second (27,900) and Hyundai ranks third (27,300). At the same time, none of the bestsellers on the used car market no longer supply new cars to Russia – of course, except for the domestic LADA.
But Chinese brands, which are confidently conquering the new car segment, are not yet among the leaders in the secondary market – due to the relatively small volumes of the fleet.
By the way, most of the used market is occupied by cars older than seven years – about 80% of such cars are for sale.
