Avtodor warned about the possible appearance of photo-video recording systems for violations on the M12 Vostok highway – it is still the only highway in the country where there is no single camera for more than 400 km. And at the same time, the state-owned company will increase the maximum permitted speed to 130 km/h.

The head of Avtodor, Vyacheslav Petushenko, spoke about the prospects for the development of the M12 Vostok highway. He recalled that the road is tolled on the Moscow-Arzamas section with a length of 415 km, and by the end of the year the journey to Kazan is expected to be opened. In addition, according to him, speed cameras may appear on the highway.

— It all depends on us, the drivers, how we will comply with the traffic rules. If we act scandalously and the number of road accidents, including deaths, increases, we will install cameras. The way we drive is the way we will manage this road,” he stressed.

Petushenko also did not rule out that the speed limit on the M12 will be increased from the current 110 km/h to 130 km/h. But he did not reveal the timing of raising the limit.

According to the traffic police, in January there were five non-fatal accidents on the M12, in March 14 with two deaths, in May 18 with seven, in July 25 with nine, in August 35 accidents with ten, and in September – 36 with 11 deaths .
