Why do cunning drivers pour brake fluid on doorways?
It is logical to believe that brake fluid is only for braking. In fact, it is very versatile. So let’s say it is very suitable for the maintenance of rubber seals of a car. Why, says the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

Under current conditions, not every Russian can afford to change cars every three to five years, even if we are talking about purchasing a used vehicle. This means that the majority of compatriots are forced to exploit what they have. But even here – an ambush upon an ambush! Where and how to maintain an already tired “swallow”, if the prices for both spare parts and gas stations are outrageous. The number of car owners who prefer to take care of their car themselves is therefore growing.

Complex repairs should definitely be left to professionals, and we’ll start with the simplest. For example, with the care of ‘rubber bands’ in doorways, which ensure silence and dryness in the interior, provided that they are elastic and do not crack or crumble due to age.

Experienced car mechanics will tell you that to keep these elements in good condition, there is kerosene, which perfectly restores dry rubber. But our task is not to resuscitate the part, but to protect it from death. This is where brake fluid comes to the rescue.

The most interesting thing is that everyone considers it poisonous. There is even an opinion that this is a very weak acid, because it burns a little when it gets on your hands. That is, once the paint is on the car, it will immediately ‘eat’ it – God forbid there is any spillage! However, this is a misconception. Brake fluid is pretty much the safest fluid in your car. Of course, there are side effects in the form of dissolving paint. But this applies more to the old “glaze”. It’s not scary for new vehicles.

If we google the composition, we see that this is regular oil. More precisely: hydraulic. Its main task was, is and will be to protect metal and seals against wear. Nothing rusts or dries out. In our case, the “brake guard” can protect the door seal from drying out. And with winter approaching – ice cold doors.

To do this, you need to take a cloth, moisten it with a small amount of, for example, “Dew” and wipe all the elastic bands. In this case, you do not need to run to the store to buy special expensive lubricants. Especially after the last maintenance, you will still have a small amount of this fluid left. And if not, ask your neighbor and tell him about this miracle cure.
