Nearly a third of traffic accidents in metropolitan areas are caused by taxi and car-sharing drivers

According to the results of a new study, traffic accidents in Moscow occur relatively evenly during the working week, and on weekends there are noticeably fewer. The most dangerous route is the Moscow Ring Road – 7% of all car accidents in the capital occur there.

As the VSK Insurance House reports, citing a survey, the culprits of 31% of traffic accidents in Moscow are drivers of company fleets – mainly taxis and car sharing, as well as other “services”. The top five main roads with the most accidents included the Moscow Ring Road (7% of all incidents), Varshavskoe highway (2%), Altufevskoe highway (1.4%), Leningradskoe highway (1.3 %), the Entuziastov Highway (1.2%), Dmitrovskoe Highway (1.1%), Leninsky Prospekt (1%) and Prospekt Mira (0.9%).

The most dangerous sections of the MKAD were the 40th km (15% of all highway accidents), the 30th km (13%) and the 20th km of the MKAD (12%). The fewest accidents occur on the 90th and 110th km of the ring road (3% each). A fairly high number of accidents was recorded on the highways leading to New Moscow. The Kievskoye and Kaluzhskoye highways account for 1.7% of all metropolitan accidents.
