What is especially dangerous about frequent navigation disruptions in Moscow?

Capital drivers have already come to terms with the sad fact that after the start of the SVO, navigators in both their cars and smartphones regularly become a completely useless option, which either refuse to navigate in space at all, or position the point of the current location a hundred miles from the real one. However, the native inhabitants of the metropolis are helped by the fact that they usually travel along the same routes and, in principle, somehow find their way around their native city. And if something happens, they call a taxi, confident that it will definitely deliver you to the right address without any problems. And they get terribly upset when it turns out that this isn’t true at all…

And the point here is not only that the capital’s taxi is one of the most dangerous forms of transport: for example, insurers claim that every third taxi in the city becomes the culprit of traffic accidents and that only 12% of the total registered number of “taxi drivers” have never had an accident. And in total there were 1,300 accidents involving them this year (and these are just the accidents where people were injured).

And many experts are convinced that a significant portion of these incidents are specifically related to… navigation. More precisely, with his absence. And to be even more precise: with the complete unprofessionalism of the vast majority of taxi drivers, who are unable to navigate in space without the help of gadgets.

The Internet is full of evidence (and our editors have come across this more than once) when drivers of cars with checkered cards, having lost their electronic guidance, began to perform the most unimaginable maneuvers, not caring about the rules of the road, to not to deviate from the route and deliver the customer to the destination. Even at the expense of his health and even his life. Which, we notice, is very understandable.

Not knowing the city or the traffic rules from the word “at all”, and not even having the appropriate driving experience, drivers, who find themselves in navigation time problems, may turn where they should not, fly into oncoming traffic and risky overtaking and other dangerous make maneuvers. But in Soviet times, taxi companies would not pick up drivers who had not passed the most difficult exam on knowledge of the Mother See.

However, you can learn more about the problem faced by millions of Muscovites and guests of the capital (in 2023, 279 million taxi trips have already been registered, which is 4% more than in the same period last year), you can read the following issue podcast of the portal “AutoVzglyad” Here.
