Almost half of Russians dream of the revival of Volga

40% of Russians surveyed are waiting for the return of Volga cars to the market – judging by the results of the survey, this brand is the most loved of all Soviet car brands. “Niva” and “Chaika” are noticeably less popular among citizens.

As TASS reports with reference to a sociological survey conducted by the Feedback Research Center, almost half of Russians are waiting for the resumption of production of cars of the Soviet brand Volga. “Car enthusiasts were asked which car model from the past of the Soviet car industry they would like to see back on Russian roads or consider it necessary to expand the scale of production. “Volga” received the most votes: 40% of respondents voted for this brand,” the study said.

For some reason, a third of respondents voted for Niva’s return, even though he never left, and 22% voted for Chaika. Pobeda and Moskvich-412 each received 19%.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, previously stated that GAZ could revive Volga by the summer of 2024. Whether this will be another Chinese car with domestic nameplates is unknown; the minister did not provide details. In what form the Russians dream of seeing the revived Volga also remains a mystery.
