On the eve of the start of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota has released the ninth-generation Camry sedan. The new product is offered with an HEV hybrid
As expected, the ninth-generation Toyota Camry will be built on the same TNGA-K platform as the current sedan. The chassis remained the same: the engineers only changed the shock absorbers and did a little magic to the settings. The body is also old, only the hinged panels have changed slightly – thanks to the new doors and fenders, the window sill line has become slightly different, and a decorative “window” with a plastic plug has appeared in the rear pillar. Mirrors and door handles – from XV70.
The front fascia is new, with a longer front overhang and C-shaped daytime running lights in the spirit of recent Toyota models, and buyers can choose from two design options. The LE version is more conservative, the SE is ‘sporty’. It has 19-inch wheels (one centimeter larger), a different front bumper with honeycomb grille instead of the classic one, an imitation diffuser at the rear, dual exhaust pipes and a spoiler on the trunk lid. The new generation includes two new colors: Ocean Gem turquoise and Heavy Metal gray.
There are many more changes to the interior – now the Camry has a new front fascia, steering wheel, center tunnel and seats! The basic version has a 7-inch digital instrument panel and an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen; In the top trims, both screens are 12.3 inches. The door panels, roof pillar cladding and gear lever are the same.
The engine range has been reduced to one power plant – at least in the American market. The naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine, coupled with an electric motor and an undisputed eCVT, develops 228 hp. Of. in front-wheel drive version and 235 hp. Of. – with four-wheel drive with an electric motor also on the rear axle. Toyota has not yet reported the fuel consumption and dynamic characteristics of the new market product, and the prices are also unknown. The new generation Camry sedan will appear in dealers in the spring of 2024.
