Insurance companies are seriously concerned about the prospect of drivers being exempted from the obligation to provide mandatory motorcycle liability insurance when registering a vehicle with the traffic police. They are confident that this will return motorists to the 1990s.
The Russian Union of Automobile Insurers (RUA) believes that eliminating the need to present a “car driver’s license” when registering cars will lead to disaster. “Checking the MTPL policy when registering a car is one of the options to monitor whether the driver has MTPL. And if we just remove it, we can go back to the 1990s, to confrontations on the road,” RIA Novosti quotes representatives of the RSA.
“Therefore, control must be maintained, but it can be changed. We see photo recording as the most effective way. And we believe that if the cancellation of the check during registration is accompanied by the launch of cameras, there should be no negative consequences. But this must be done at the same time, they say at RSA.
Let us remind you that on November 7, the State Duma adopted in first reading a bill that excludes the MTPL policy from the list of documents required for the registration of a vehicle.
