The project aims to produce passive safety systems for cars. We are talking about airbags with 100% local production of the steering column, the steering wheel itself and the seat belts. We do not yet have such production facilities in Russia,” the official said.

Sollers CEO Nikolai Sobolev called the initiative unique for the Russian automotive industry, especially in terms of the level of localization. “We will make airbags, steering wheels, ECM and seat belts. The level of localization will be very high, including the localization of magnesium alloys, which have never been made in Russia before. We plan to launch in the first quarter of 2025,” he said.
