As RIA Novosti reports, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, clarified the timing of the start of mass production of the new budget LADA model at the Rossiya exhibition and forum.
— Another new model is the LADA Iskra car. The start of production is planned for early 2025 and it will be the most widespread and most affordable Russian passenger car on a high-tech platform,” he said.
Previously, AVTOVAZ planned to launch the Iskra model in late 2024. Sokolov did not say what the reason for the postponement to 2025 was.
Today the company produces four car families: Vesta, Granta, Niva and Largus. Sales of LADA cars in 2022 amounted to 188,600 units, which is 46% less than in 2021.
