According to a study by the Government Analytical Center, the average cost of a taxi ride, depending on the region of the country, has increased by 23-29% since 2021. Experts call the main reason primarily a sharp increase in the costs of operating a fleet, that is, both for the purchase and maintenance of checkered vehicles.
As reported by Izvestia with reference to the document, fuel costs for taxis have increased by 75%, maintenance costs have increased by 58%, and related costs such as depreciation, credits and leasing payments have increased by 63%. There has also been an increase in the cost of the MTPL policy – in two years it has added a quarter of the cost, and in Moscow it is now offered for 120-130 thousand rubles. At the same time, according to Yandex.Taxi, the demand for taxi driver services has also increased by 20%.
Perhaps the biggest cost item for taxi companies is the increase in car prices. The cost of an economy class model, taking into account leasing payments, has risen 28% since 2021, analysts calculated. This is even more striking in the comfort class: by 43% in just a few years.
Experts emphasize a major shortage of economy class models: Renault Logan, Volkswagen Polo, Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris and Skoda Rapid were out of stock at dealers in the spring. Now this segment is mainly represented by LADA, but they have also increased in price in two years: Granta has increased in price by 56% and Vesta by 82%.
