Why the country’s automotive scene won’t change for the better by 2024

The Russian car market is coming to life, albeit slowly, perhaps not as much as we would like. Suffice it to say that more than a million new cars have already been sold – almost 65% more than in the eleven months of last year. The sales leaders are AVTOVAZ and of course Chinese comrades. But things are much worse in the domestic auto industry, especially in the passenger car sector.

After all, today we have conveyor belts operating in Tolyatti, Ulyanovsk and Tula. And plans to revive car clusters in St. Petersburg and Kaluga, unfortunately, remain plans. Well, no foreign (read: Chinese) car manufacturer is in a hurry to come to us. However, what is understandable: it is frankly unprofitable for the eastern partners to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in production to assemble an insignificant number of cars by their standards. It is easier to import and sell finished products. And much more profitable.

Yes, the topic of inadequate prices for their products, which are still far from their European, Korean and Japanese counterparts, does not leave the pages of the media and is vigorously discussed on social networks. But Vaska listens and eats, as they say. Moreover, as experts in the car market unanimously say: car prices will only increase.

And certainly against the background of the fact that the authorities are tightening the screws in the parallel import of vehicles. It seems that this plan extended its lifespan, but it was surrounded by so many catapult traps that it became extremely uninteresting for the majority of ordinary citizens. That is of course where Chinese marketers are taking advantage of, by continuing to increase the prices of their cars. And unfortunately not only for them, but also for spare parts.

More and more car owners who have studied Chinese history complain about the high costs of repairing cars from the People’s Republic of China. And dealers are extremely dissatisfied with their Chinese comrades’ approach to after-sales service. There is also a lack of many items in warehouses, resulting in long waits for delivery of needed items, and problems with parts catalogs (ordering the right one is a difficult quest) and even repair manuals.

In short: in the near future, the car life of Russians will not become easier or easier. However, you can find out more about this in the next episode of the AutoVzglyad portal podcast, which you can find Here.
