The Volzhsky Automobile Plant has expanded the range of power units for LADA – now the 1.8 Evo gasoline engine in combination with a CVT has appeared in the range. The Vesta model will receive it first.

Our colleagues from Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported that AVTOVAZ presented a new power unit, consisting of a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter gasoline engine with 16 valves and a power of 122 hp and a CVT. But there are no detailed characteristics yet – the plant promised to release them in the near future.

The units are intended for LADA Vesta, but later Granta may also receive a continuously variable transmission – AVTOVAZ is already adapting it for the current bestseller on the Russian car market.

The first LADA Vesta with the 1.8 Evo engine was assembled in the second quarter of the previous year, purely for the internal needs of the factory – a batch of such cars was intended for testing, calibration and debugging of the production process. The head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, previously stated that mass production of the Vesta model with a CVT will begin around the turn of the year 2023-2024.
