The date for the restart of Mitsubishi and Peugeot’s Kaluga plant has been announced

During the opening ceremony of the AMO plant (former Volvo assembly site), the governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, managed to announce the launch of production of another local enterprise – PSMA Rus. The pipeline will be launched on December 18.

According to Interfax, the authorities of the Kaluga region discussed the restart of the plant with the management of the company PSMA Ru. “They have also gone through a difficult process in re-equipping and reconfiguring their business, and on the 18th, next Monday, the factory will start operating,” Shapsha said.

Since 2012, we remember that Peugeot 408 and Citroen C4 passenger cars, Peugeot, Opel and Citroen commercial models, as well as Mitsubishi Outlander and Pajero Sport were assembled here. The company has been at a standstill since March 2022 due to the collapse of supply chains following the introduction of Western sanctions.

The most interesting thing – which models will now be produced on the PSMA Rus site – remains a mystery. The governor didn’t talk about it either. Last year, the company was looking for domestic component suppliers. The PSMA Rus plant was 30% owned by Mitsubishi, another 70% was owned by the Stellantis group.
