Authorities will combat traffic offenders with the help of artificial intelligence

You’ve ever heard of ISA technology, right? And she is! The Intelligent Speed Assistant system, based on artificial intelligence, is able not only to monitor, but also to stop speeding violations. And how exactly this “intelligence” is used in practice, the AutoVzglyad portal discovered.

In mechanical engineering, all kinds of smart functions in cars have been tested for several years, based on the work of artificial intelligence. Moreover, they not only work on their integration abroad, but also here. Together with the American Tesla and Ford, the British Jaguar Land Rover, the German Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, even the original Russian KamAZ is testing similar systems. And not just for ‘improving’ the vehicles themselves, but also for optimizing road transport infrastructure, designed to ‘communicate’ with both cars and regulators.

Let’s say more: at the moment, more than 1,000 Russian companies are developing AI products, which rank fourth in the world in this field. It is easy to guess that the activities of artificial intelligence systems in the automotive industry are designed to monitor safety on the roadway.

As statistics from various countries show, almost half of fatal accidents occur due to failure to comply with the speed limit. That is why the Intelligent Speed Assistant technology was actually developed, which is aimed at combating speeding.

In addition, depending on the firmware, the software can not only warn the driver of a possible violation by emitting light, sound and other signals, but also limit the fuel supply. Of course, “Big Brother” will not completely turn off the engine, because this, on the contrary, can easily provoke an accident, but it will not be difficult for him to “suppress” the engine speed. By the way, in the EU countries they want to completely ban the production of cars that do not have the minimum ISA option in their arsenal by the summer of next year.

In Russia, where they still produce cars without ABS and with Euro-0 engines, such a ban is not at all relevant, but to tighten measures against traffic offenders the innovation will come in handy. Moreover, AI is already widely used in various fields – from socio-economic to manufacturing and communication.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko publicly boasted that “the intellectual maturity index for the implementation of artificial intelligence has reached 31.5% in priority sectors: the financial sector, the information sector and the healthcare system.” For example, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has introduced equipment capable of calculating the risk of fire, in medical institutions – making preliminary diagnoses, and in metallurgy – predicting defects.

In other words, it’s just a matter of time to deploy a system trained to stop car speed limit violations. And this will happen sooner or later. Moreover, the government has already managed to create an operational headquarters for “digital transformation”, which includes representatives from all federal departments.

This means that the day is not far away when you and I will not drive our cars, but they will drive us. At the same time “where it should be” it transmits all the information about what is happening inside the car and outside it.
