Used car sales rose 17% in 2023 compared to the 2022 result and were 3.5% higher than 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic collapsed the car market. However, the leader in secondary market sales remains unchanged: LADA.

According to the Autostat agency, despite its leadership in the overall ranking (1.3 million vehicles), the growth dynamics of the LADA brand on the secondary market turned out to be the lowest – plus 7.7%. Among foreign cars, Toyota traditionally leads with an increase of 23.7% (670,400 units), followed by Kia with an increase of 23.7% (319,000 units) and Hyundai with 22.8% (315,100 units).

In the model rating, the Ford Focus, as in 2020-2021, is in the lead – last year it became more popular by 15% and 119,800 copies were sold. In second place is the VAZ-2114 with an increase of 2.9% (116,600 cars). The model led the market in secondary market sales in 2022.

The top five also included Kia Rio with a sales increase of 9.8% (110,500 units) and Hyundai Solaris with an increase of 6.6% (110,000 units). And the Toyota Corolla closes the rankings, sales of which increased by 21.6% (102,400 units).

We add that the used car segment under seven years old represented only about 21% of the secondary market.
