Which crossovers have increased in price the most in January 2024?
While the domestic LADA stubbornly holds back prices for its cars, and its Chinese comrades lower their price lists altogether in order to somehow get rid of the dusty warehouse stocks, sellers of models of other brands raise prices with all their might. Moreover, only half a month of 2024 has passed. Further.

As Vladimir Putin once punished: the popular models from AVTOVAZ simply have to be affordable, although the price tag for the same ‘Vesta’ is clearly too high. But the Chinese who believed in themselves were confronted with the inevitable: no one will take it! Who needs mediocre quality cars at astronomical prices? Anyone who wanted it took it long ago. So the only way to stimulate demand is to lower prices, something the Asians have slowly but surely started to do.

Meanwhile, sellers of “more interesting” products are not shy about their appetites, systematically raising prices for their automotive products. This is especially true for parallel import proposals. The price increase is explained by an increase in recycling costs and logistics costs, but in fact business people and those who call themselves that are drawing up price lists by hand. Let’s look at a few examples.

Volkswagen and Audi, which returned to Russia under the guise of AGR Group, do not list prices on their official websites and refer interested parties to managers upon request. In the meantime, price tags at the car dealers themselves have increased noticeably – compared to December 2023. For example, prices for the popular Audi Q5 crossover in our class have increased by almost 400,000 rubles.

On the more mundane side is the Japanese Toyota RAV4, which also has 300,000 “wooden” added to its price. Why? Yes because! But when communicating with representatives of Toyota dealers, which have fallen into oblivion, the same three hundred thousand can be “bitten off”. In other words: salespeople throw it on artificially, so that they throw it back again during the dialogue with the customer, as it were, ‘out of the goodness of their hearts’.

The situation is similar with Hyundai Staria and Tucson, Kia Sportage and Sorento, Mazda CX−5 and Nissan X-Trail. These cars – depending on the version – added 200 to 400 thousand rubles in price. But Nissan Qashqai, Mitsubishi Outlander, Range Rover Sport and Vogue, as well as Chevrolet Tahoe, on the other hand, have fallen in price.

Moreover, the latter “sunk” by almost a million! The reason for this is the cars produced in 2022 that have not been claimed, and now in fact they are, albeit new, but already two years old cars. Yes, this is exactly the case when the old is passed off as new…
