The Duma proposed banning the term “speed bump.”

United Russia’s deputy, Sultan Khamzaev, took the initiative to ban the term “speed bump.” The parliamentarian suddenly realized that this phrase would contain derogatory – and even provocative – connotations that demeaned the honor and dignity of employees of the Ministry of the Interior.

As the Telegram channel ‘Bloody Lady’ reports, citing a letter from a deputy to the head of Roskomnadzor Andrei Lipov, the use of the term ‘speed bump’ should be officially banned, as it appears to have a disparaging attitude towards employees of the Ministry of the Interior, which is “illegal” and “provocative”. The MP drew attention to the use of this ‘rude’ expression in the media instead of the official term ‘artificial roughness’.

This jargon, as Khamzaev put it, is also used in navigation services. According to United Russia, “due to the frequent use of jargon, a peculiar process of legitimizing blasphemy and gradual neutralization of jargon in the minds of citizens is taking place.”

As a result, the parliamentarian asks Roskomnadzor to explain its position on this issue and make recommendations on the inadmissibility of the use of the term “speed bump” – up to a complete ban on its use in public spaces.
