The forum of road initiatives “Innovative Technologies and Intelligent Transport Systems in Road Construction”, organized by Avtodor, opened with a modest exhibition of equipment. Their developments were presented not only by those manufacturers who already cooperate with the state-owned company, but also by its potential partners – from Russia, Belarus and China.
It was clear that the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions could slow down road construction in the country, as the industry’s reliance on imported suppliers stands at 50%, according to Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. So far, according to the authorities, there is no acute problem: there is enough equipment and spare parts for it. But to keep a dynamic pace and beyond, you now have to look for alternative options.
But they are there, and there are more and more. So, at a small exhibition that opened the forum of road initiatives, several manufacturers from friendly countries declared their willingness to immediately support the state-owned company.
For example, representatives of MAZ boasted that their factory, with all the necessary components, was running at full capacity. Cooperation with Chinese suppliers guarantees continuity. The domestic KamAZ will go in the same direction, but it will still take time. Because MAZ considers itself an excellent alternative with its “heavenly” Euro-5 engines and manual gearboxes.
Another option is the Smolmash plant, which at the mini-exhibition presented a combined road vehicle (KDM) based on the same MAZ. But this is not an unscrupulous “copy-paste”: the inhabitants of Smolensk have also introduced their own developments. In particular, an intelligent control system and analysis of the KDM operation (the operator monitors the process online thanks to two cameras) and a maintenance-free conveyor belt with “fingers” instead of rollers to prevent jamming of the chain.
The Chinese from Sany also announced themselves, producing about 1,500 machines (excavators, graders, etc.) per year. It is curious that hydraulics and many other equipment for their equipment is made in Japan. But representatives of the company assure that there will be no problems with it – they were forbidden to work only in the DPR and LPR: deliveries to Russia are allowed. Not a bad option, as there are no more living excavator factories in Nebyatnaya, and you still can’t find a local alternative.
The company “Prodmash” showed a mobile trailer, which Rostovites has been working on for several years. They are not certified yet, but the development is promising. Like other similar systems, “Kor-bit” reduces the severity of the consequences of a collision with a passenger car and protects the construction equipment to a certain extent. And the main feature of the Prodmash trailer is 100% Russian components and proven efficiency at 90 km/h.
