It is impossible to bring the dead to life: experts discussed the prospects for Moskvich .’s revival
The prospects for the resuscitation of the Moskvich auto factory, which died in Bose in the early 2000s, now worries officials and even a resident far removed from the problems of the country’s auto industry. What do the experts think of the ambitious project of the city council of the capital to revive the enterprise, the AvtoVzglyad portal found out after visiting the roundtable in the online publication Ryuds, where experts discussed the problem. And, unfortunately, they came to the saddest conclusions. And not only about the future of the capital’s production, but also about the industry as a whole.

Since the details of the plans for the reincarnation of the plant have not yet been announced, one can only guess what the future holds for Moskvich. According to Igor Morzharetto, partner of the Avtostat analysis firm, the project will have a social focus: saving jobs. The economic component is still in high demand. Especially when you consider where the factory currently stands: the location 8 km from the Kremlin is a real treasure and a dream of all capital developers.

– Nowhere in the world in the center of the city is there no car production – it is simply unprofitable due to the high cost of land, the expert notes. — The factory in this place is doomed. Now only SKD assembly can be organized on it. To collect, most likely, there will be cars from Chinese companies. We are, of course, talking about the mass segment. From the beginning, no one here is sure to create anything. Even the team of professionals that left Renault can only organize production, but not create it from scratch, Igor Morzharetto is convinced.

Journalist Sergey Aslanyan is even more pessimistic, noting that “not one specific site has died, but the entire industry. And there’s no one to revive it.”

– When we talk about revival, the inevitable question arises: who will do it? We have no engineers, designers, no teachers to teach students about the modern car industry, – car expert Jan Haytseer supported his colleague. — Yes, there is a possibility that we will cooperate with Chinese partners. But it will also be factories. on which SKD will be carried out: we will invest in this project, the Chinese will provide us with spare parts, but this will not be a full-fledged production of domestic cars. This gives us some time to revive our education to help students later work in this industry. Shall we put it to good use, the expert asks.

– Time will certainly work for us, there will be a demand for domestic cars – there will be an offer, – the general manager of the Dalini group of companies Ruslan Nigmatulin is convinced that today in the Russian Federation there are a number of companies and industries that will be able to show themselves fully after the departure of foreign competitors. – We have excellent companies working in agricultural supply, there is the same Rosselmash. Now they are not launching their production, not even due to strict certification. If it is facilitated and some other bureaucratic procedures are relaxed, these manufacturers can supply almost all spare parts in our market …

According to the expert, purely Russian companies are now flooded with orders and are ready to expand if they get cheap money and Europeans are not allowed to go back in a year, because the payback period of such projects is as much as 5-10 years. The coordinator of the Blue Buckets movement, the head of the working group of the ONF “Protecting the rights of motorists” Pyotr Shkumatov is also sure that in this case the devil is in money, sorry, in the details:

– Now we just have no basis for the existence of the auto industry, there are no “long” money and cheap loans to open any production. In Europe, a rate of 3% per year applies to such cases, in our country until recently it was 27%, also in the car industry. Even though it has now been reduced to 15% in a number of cases, it is still a very high borrowing rate. But the very presence in this form suggests that the focus on car factories is only the tip of the iceberg. Of course, we should not start with the automotive industry, but with the basics of creating a comfortable environment for any production, but for some reason this is not discussed yet …

“As long as we’re in a situation like that, it’s worth focusing on short-term tasks,” said Maxim Shishko, general manager of the Avtodom Subscription project. – Namely to ensure safety on the roads, so that cars drive by, and no car waste. This means moving away from the magic word “import substitution” and removing all the obstacles that prevent us from importing used cars from abroad today. Of course, only allow qualified participants to enter this market…

In general, the experts agreed that we will of course not have a normal car industry in the short term. Giving life to the dead is indeed an impossible task. What was – you will not return. But instead of “Moskvich”, do we really need a certain “Zombich”, which they so quickly decided to recreate from the ashes – a big question. Is it possible to start producing scooters under this updated brand, which is so loved by the officials of the capital.

And what? It will be fully in line with the idea of the project, and the trends in Moscow, and the target audience, which is so frantically standing on its two-wheeled boards, fighting for the depreciation of its life on the city’s highways.
