Results of the week: Putin vowed to overwhelm Russia with “Chinese”, and the Interior Ministry – to face the hijackers

Why will neither the Chinese auto industry nor the domestic AVTOVAZ solve the problem of an acute shortage of new cars in Russia, despite Vladimir Putin’s encouraging statements? Is it really true that the number of car thefts is falling and the cost of an OSAGO policy is rising sharply due to an increase in the price of spare parts? The most important news of the outgoing week is in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

This week most of the news came from Chinese fields. For example, as the AvtoVzglyad portal was told by its own sources, the Haval company is thinking about building another plant in the Tula region, where engines and gearboxes will be produced. Chery announced the launch of a new sub-brand Omoda in Russia. And Hongqi, as it became known, completes the certification of four new products at once: three sedans and a crossover.

Our compatriots don’t exactly believe in the Chinese car industry. Judging by the results of a survey by the AvtoVzglyad portal in Telegram, only 6% of drivers are ready to switch to a “heavenly” car. But the authorities have high expectations of manufacturers from China. Even Russian President Vladimir Putin, who welcomed participants to the BRICS business forum, stressed that “negotiations are underway to increase the share of Chinese cars in our market”.

Those who are categorically against Chinese cars may be pleased to hear that the dear AvtoVAZ, it seems, has partially solved the component supply problems and is now preparing to increase production volumes. After the simplified “Grant”, Togliatti resumes production of “Niva”, and then – and “Largus”. The plan is quite ambitious given the circumstances, but will they be able to put it into practice?

The Interior Ministry of Russia is equally optimistic – representatives of the department said that the number of car thefts in the country has fallen sharply. So according to them, the police recorded only 2,380 car thefts in the first four months of the year, which is 20% less than in January-April last year. Sure, but that’s hard to believe. After all, a month ago, the ministry published completely different data…
