How Soviet Zhiguli and Volga compete with foreign cars

On July 31, Moscow hosted the Stolitsa retro rally, which brought together a large number of iconic retro cars. More than sixty cars entered the race. Most of them are bright representatives of the global automotive industry, as well as the whole color of Soviet classics. There was even a Packard, released before the war.

The rally started from Gorky Park, where an exhibition of participants was held before they set out for the route. Here “Volga”, “Zhiguli” and “Moskvich” stood next to Porsche, Ferrari and BMW. Outwardly, by the way, domestic cars were not inferior to eminent representatives of the global automotive industry.

The route itself took several hours and went through the historic center with a stop at the Rosneft gas station. It is the main sponsor of the competition. After a pit stop at the gas station, the participants continued the race. By the way, in a retro rally, the speed characteristics of cars are absolutely not in demand. More important here is the accurate work of the crew, knowledge of the city and the tuning of instruments for which the time is recorded. The carriages ended at the Durasov estate in the nineteenth century in the Lyublino Park. There was also an award ceremony and a ceremony. On the most interesting moments of the rally, see the photo report of the AvtoVzglyad portal.
