The tectonic movement of the political and macroeconomic crust is always felt at all levels: large corporations and small people working for them equally hard to weather the winds of change. Why? Yes, simply because the established rules are changing again and the powerful energy released in doing so is initially reviving the lower, long-forgotten criminal elements. Heritage theft begins: wheels, headlights, mirrors. However, over time, the “menu” grows, new details of the car’s exterior are introduced into it.
The year 2014 – Crimea, sanctions, the peak of the ruble – was marked by a massive “removal” of parking sensors and headlight washers: everyone was affected from the Honda Civic to the Mercedes S-class. They stole everything that was badly screwed to it, but we note that they removed it with the utmost politeness: the wires were disconnected, carefully hung. Today is 2022 and that will immediately go down in the history books for various reasons. New crisis – new elements stolen from the car. It all started with rear-view mirrors, which the AvtoVzglyad portal has already written about. And by the end of August, yard thieves had mastered a new detail: overlays.
It turns out that some plastic elements cost a lot, but are easily removed. For example, bumper covers and headlight washers for almost all Bavarian products. Most likely, BMW engineers thought about pedestrian safety or weight reduction, but plastic “decors”, each costing about two thousand rubles, and then also need to be painted – add 500 rubles if there is a known master, and the installation will be independent – turned out easy money to be for young adventurers and quick money.
Garage and closed parking are of course secured, but where can you get them? It remains only to rely on yourself and strong glue so that the thieves give up this occupation and switch to a neighbor, no matter how blasphemous it may sound. Or neat, but striking on closer inspection, engraving: “stolen from” and a telephone number. As practice shows, such simple and almost free methods – applying a small inscription in the workshop will cost only 150-250 rubles, and this can be done in any household – they allow you to protect the car from looting and yourself – by wasting time looking for a replacement.
Unfortunately, it is almost pointless to contact the relevant services. In three out of four cases, the police shrugs and recounts a long list of such calls from neighboring houses. Thieves come to the adjacent area, do their job quickly and disappear into the night, and you can only get them “on hand” when a police patrol is around. So protecting your car is the job of the motorist himself, it’s time to remember the forgotten techniques. Those times have come again.
