Passenger car production in Russia fell by 77%

In September, 23,800 new cars were produced in our country. Compared to September last year, the bankruptcy was 77.4%. And 349,000 cars were produced in the first three quarters alone – 65.9% less than in the same period last year. And despite the fact that the crisis in the industry has only just begun.

Such sad figures are quoted by Rosstat. In addition, the Federal Statistical Service estimated truck output last month at 11,700 units. This is 33.8% less than in September 2021. And in the first nine months of this year, 103,400 trucks rolled off the assembly line (-20.4%).

Due to the crisis, many Western companies have decided to leave the Russian market and limit production. In this regard, the authorities even began to discuss the transition of factories to state ownership.

Nothing good will come of this idea, auto expert Alexander Pikulenko is sure. Speaking at an online conference of the AvtoVzglyad portal, he said that he had not yet seen a single business plan for the so-called “nationalization”. It is also unclear how this will be implemented as our market is local and very small, making it not very profitable for many companies to work here. Mr. Pikulenko remembered the Russian Renault factory, which survived the real nationalization and has survived to this day. The range was wide: trolleybuses, trucks, motorcycles. In his opinion, such a path has a right to exist.
