“Together with specialists from the Moscow Aviation Institute, we are currently working on the certification of our development as a civilian aircraft: we are preparing the documents necessary for its successful completion,” quotes RIA Novosti, CEO of Hover startup Alexander Atamanov.
He noted that certification is an extremely slow process, but the company is confident that their aircraft will be available for commercial transport with real passengers on board as early as 2025.
But this is probably the most optimistic scenario. At least because air taxis in Russia are not yet regulated by law, which prevents even test flights from being conducted, let alone mass use. In addition, domestic development is likely to be based on foreign components and technologies, which may also create difficulties.
We add that Hover’s plane can accommodate two people. It rises to an altitude of 150 m, accelerates to 200 km/h and can operate for up to 40 minutes on a single battery charge. A large drone doesn’t need a lot of space to take off and land – a standard parking spot is enough. And the cost of a trip on it, as reported earlier, is about 200 rubles per 1 km.
