How Experienced Drivers Make Money Buying an OSAGO Policy Affordably

According to the information from the OSAGO: Public Expertise project, there have recently been more cases of insurance companies unilaterally canceling contracts. Why is this happening and how can a car owner protect himself from wasting time and most importantly money? Don’t be surprised, but the problem is in the drivers themselves. And that’s why.

As a rule, the main reason for terminating an OSAGO contract is incorrectly stated data from the insured, which greatly affects the risk assessment and, of course, the cost of the policy itself. This practice of insurers is aimed at preventing fraudulent schemes that artificially lower the price of “car insurance”.

After all, such agreements are largely concluded through intermediaries, who in fact provide incorrect information, for example about the car or the place of residence of the insured. So the company calculates the cost of OSAGO using lower coefficients. That’s just, as it is not difficult to guess, this threatens with a complete refusal of payment in the event of an insured event. In other words, the motorist will have to pay for the damage in the event of an accident.

And in the face of shortages and indecent price increases of auto parts, costs threaten to increase significantly. It is better to overpay a few thousand for a policy than to borrow with interest from a crafty neighbor.

As Mikhail Perelman, associate professor of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the regional branch of the RANEPA in Moscow, told the AvtoVzglyad portal: “Insurance companies are confronted every day with fraud in its various manifestations, while it is almost impossible to find a … attempted illegal profit from a banal error in filling out documents.”

According to the expert, the practice of terminating an OSAGO policy with incorrectly itemized information is the only mechanism to prevent criminal fraud that causes significant damage to the segment and has an extremely negative impact on “autocitizen” pricing.

“The abolition of this practice will be a big mistake, which will worsen the situation in the market for compulsory car insurance, since insurers will have no influence to oppose citizens who want to get rich in such an easy way. Therefore, I advise car owners to carefully check the data when concluding OSAGO agreements, as well as not to trust unscrupulous intermediaries in the pursuit of temporary profit. As practice shows, such dubious savings lead to nothing but additional loss of finances, time and nerve cells, ”concluded Mikhail Perelman.
