In good hands: Nissan’s Russian factory now has a new owner

Subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, FSUE NAMI became the owner of 100% of the authorized capital of the Nissan car plant in St. Petersburg (Nissan Manufacturing Rus LLC). Such a decision is likely to save jobs and start production of new car models.

The fact that the Japanese approved the sale of the St. Petersburg plant and other Russian assets of Nissan Manufacturing Rus to the Russian Federation represented by FSUE NAMI became known on October 11. Now all the necessary documents have been signed.

According to Interfax, NAMI noted that such a decision would allow key competencies, the production cycle and jobs to be preserved at the plant. However, there is still no exact information about the release of new models. If this happens, the meeting will most likely be co-organized with the Chinese FAW.

Recall that the factory opened in June 2009. It produced X-Trail, Murano, Qashqai and Terrano crossovers. The production capacity was 100,000 vehicles per year. And because of the withdrawal from Russia, the Japanese wrote off about $ 181 million.
