After losing hundreds of millions of dollars in Russia, Toyota is still setting records

Despite the crisis in the production of automotive chips and the general economic situation in the world, Toyota Motor Corp. has achieved the impossible. The company showed an increase in production. True, against the background of a decrease in new car production plans and a decline in the domestic market. However, the results are still impressive. Thanks to what or who managed to increase sales, says the AvtoVzglyad portal.

For example, Toyota reported a 1.5% increase in global car production in November, setting the company a new monthly high of 833,104 vehicles. Curiously, at the same time domestic Japanese production fell by 3.3% to 266,174 vehicles. But foreign cars grew by 3.8% to a record level of 566,930 cars. It is also interesting that the lion’s share of this success was achieved through a steady increase in demand in the North American market. It seems that the US is quite successful in solving its economic problems at the expense of the rest of the world.

Another positive factor was the recovery of spare parts supply chains, which had collapsed due to COVID-19. Although Toyota is still adjusting its plans to reduce production. Of the planned 9.7 million cars per year, the company now expects to please the world “only” with 9.2 copies. But this is much more than last year’s production, which was 8.6 million cars. However, Toyota’s current success would have been even more impressive if the brand had not left the Russian market, as it had “only” lost $655 million.
