Why do the Japanese buy Russian cars for a lot of money, spitting on sanctions
Despite the severe restrictions imposed on our country, the Japanese do not want to deny themselves the pleasure of buying a car originally from Russia. Such strange trends in one of the world’s leading auto powers naturally arouse legitimate suspicion. The AvtoVzglyad portal examined what really happened with the unique direction of Russian exports.

Oh, how many wonderful discoveries are being prepared for us by each new day we live. It happens that these discoveries lead to such a stupor, from which even experience, the son of difficult mistakes, cannot protect. But the funny thing is that the culprit of this kind of surprise is, as a rule, the tireless Russian genius, a friend of paradoxes.

In the face of the permanent tightening of sanctions imposed on all aspects of the life of Russian citizens, a certain company Le Parnass, as if nothing had happened, is watching to sell Russian cars abroad. And finally not somewhere in godforsaken Burundi, but in the mecca of the car industry: Japan. At the same time, buyers from the Land of the Rising Sun are offered a very specific product – not all of them are modifications of Western models, what kind of good they themselves have in bulk, and of much better quality.

No, give them original Russian crafts, to which, if foreign engineers had a hand, then only a little. The Niva Travel, the UAZ Hunter and even the Loaf, which is widely known in small circles, go to the Far East, which you cannot look at without tears. Yes, by the way, let the AvtoVAZ and UAZ marketers excuse me for the impudence with which I dared to write the names of their miracle cars in Cyrillic, unanimously rejected by our auto industry. In other words, the Japanese are purposefully chasing condos, uncomfortable, unsafe cars of a dying class of true all-terrain vehicles. I wonder where they look for suitable trenches for them? Not quite on the slopes of Mount Fuji.

The love for the dinosaurs of the global auto industry, which suddenly manifested itself among the islanders, turned out to be so strong that no sanctions intervened, although on July 18 of this year a strict ban on the direct import of goods from Russia was introduced in their country. However, the flow of “Niv”, “Hunters” and “Broden” did not stop. “We cannot refuse Ladas and UAZs,” Le Parnass boldly declared, bringing the same models to Japan, but assembled in Kazakhstan at the SaryarkaAvtoProm plant using the SKD method.

The Japanese are so addicted to Russian exotic cars that they are willing to pay big money for them. The price of “Loaf” starts from 3.9 million yen, “Hunter” – from 3.7 million yen. This is about twice as much as cars cost in Russia. In addition, after such an amount, buyers get a poor package with air conditioning, a multimedia system, a rear view camera, power windows, heated seats and a windshield, 16-inch alloy wheels, a pair of airbags, ABS, and for some reason a snorkel . You cannot understand this with your mind, you can only believe it – after all, for 3.6 million yen it is quite possible to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which is bigger, safer, more powerful and much better equipped is.

At first glance, there is only one explanation for such obvious psychological quirks – some people there, in Japan, really want to be different from the rest, and for this they are ready to make unjustified sacrifices and condemn themselves to driving, because of to the lack of any ergonomics to rival the legendary Defender. However, not everyone is satisfied with such a simple interpretation.

Some people think it’s a matter of being too gullible: “I wish I could get the contacts of all those potential buyers from Japan. I can offer them various bridges, mountain resorts in Florida, as well as carburetors that allow cars to consume 2 liters of gasoline per 100 km. All details can be obtained by contacting my Nigerian office.

By the way or inconvenient, but I remembered an old story from Soviet times that the Japanese buy our cars and immediately send them to melt down, because they are experiencing a huge shortage of steel.
