Gone are the days when Japanese automakers were leaders in various segments. Now models of brands from the Land of the Rising Sun are not even in the TOP-10 best-selling cars. Thank you for at least being in the TOP-25.
The most popular among our compatriots is the Toyota RAV4 crossover, which at the end of last year took only the 17th line of the rating. From January to December, the model won the hearts of just over 8,000 people, and this is just a minute! – no less than 30,000 less than a year earlier. The reason is simple: the factory of the Japanese brand in St. Petersburg is shut down, stocks are slowly but surely running out, and dealers are raising prices quickly and without hesitation.
The Mazda CX-5 crossover, which sold 7,005 units, lost a thousand customers to its compatriot, which managed to sell its 13,000 cars less than the brand in 2021. The car plant in Vladivostok died for a long time, and prices for dusty scraps rose so much that it is better not even to go to dealers. As we can see, the result was not long in coming.
The popular crossover Nissan Qashqai was even less in demand. In the period from January to December 2022, 6,381 Russians became car owners. By way of comparison: at the end of 2021 there were almost 20,500.
Well, the situation with the Nissan plant is even worse than that of Toyota and Mazda. The site was taken over by the domestic AvtoVAZ, which could even promise two new crossovers at once, the release of which will happen thanks to the help of mysterious Chinese partners. Whether this is good or bad news is up to you.
The “hit parade” of the best-selling Japanese cars in the Russian market is completed by the Nissan X-Trail, which was voted by 5,468 buyers with a ruble. By the way, the crossover charmed a little more than 19,000 people a year earlier. According to the results of 2022, the model took last place in the TOP-25 cars most in demand in our country. It seems a bit more, and Ixtrail will forever disappear from the review and stock sales.
