At the end of last year, it became known that Kaliningrad Avtotor plans to start production of Chinese cars of the BAIC brand. Now details have appeared – in particular, it turned out that the next “heavenly” brand will enter the Russian market with two compact crossovers.
According to the Russian channel Automobile Telegram, the Russian history of the BAIC brand begins with the launch of the X3 and X35 front-wheel drive crossovers. The second is in fact a modification of the first, although according to the documents these are two different models.
Engines – 116 and 150 liters. s., gearbox – variator. As for the cost, in their homeland, for example, X3 is offered at a price of 600,000 rubles in terms of our currency. But it is clear that in Russia the model will be much more expensive.
Production of crossovers has already been established at Avtotor, although so far only in test mode. What’s next? Obtaining a Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS). It may take about 4-5 months to complete the document. But since everyone is interested in loading the plant earlier, there is a good chance that the procedure will be completed sooner.
