The Russian car market continues to decline at an incredible rate, although sedans are still the most popular passenger cars. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out what cars a Russian would like to drive, but still forced to buy what is enough.

It is clear that we would like to use the German and Japanese bounty, but the population simply does not have enough money for it. All piggy banks have long been broken and the stock has run out. And the shortfall did not favor buyers. Perhaps, for the most part, our compatriots will move only on domestic models. Especially after the remnants of Korean foreign cars are completely raked out of car dealerships.

So, what kind of sedans do Russians most often buy?

According to the results of the past year, the primitive Russian LADA Granta became the undisputed leader, which was bought by almost 96,000 people. However, here it is worth adding that this number includes Grants with a different body type. By the way, almost 112,000 Russian car owners opted for the nationwide model a year earlier. The drop in demand is obvious.

It is much worse for the flagship of the Volga Automobile Plant – the LADA Vesta sedan. The car managed to find just under 30,000 new owners, while there were more than 113,500 buyers at the end of 2021. In other words, AVTOVAZ managed to sell almost 85,000 fewer cars. The reboot of the updated version, scheduled for spring this year, should boost sales of Vesta, which with the right price positioning even has a chance to regain the status of the best-selling car on the market.

The top three is crowned by the Korean Kia Rio, which captivated 24,686 Russian customers, which is 60,000 less than a year ago.

The fourth position was taken by the “cousin” Hyundai Solaris with an indicator of 18,000 cars sold. Compared to the sales results of 2021, the sedan has fallen by 43,000 units. Well, the “freeze” of car production and shipping has done its job.

Finally, the TOP 5 of the most popular sedans in Russia was closed by the German Volkswagen Polo, which sold just over 11,100 units, ie 36,000 cars less than a year earlier. By the way, the model did not even enter the top ten most popular cars of our brother. It seems a little more, and “Polo” will completely leave the rating, and at the same time the market as a whole. Well, let’s remember…
